Death Cab For Cutie's video

Death Cab For Cutie's latest CD "Plans" gets complex with the release of a series of videos under the name "Directions". This anthology will collect 12 short films/music videos by 12 different filmmakers inspired by the 11 songs from Plans, most of the directors involved in the project will be familiar to music video fans, but there are a few newcomers. Autumn de Wilde is a photographer who has often worked with DCFC (and has directed videos for Spoon and the late Elliott Smith), Rob Schrab is the creator of the legendarily never aired Jack Black TV show pilot Heat Vision and Jack and Jeffrey Brown is a graphic novelist.
Here the first video for Death Cab's "Directions" project is "Marching Bands of Manhattan" directed by Paul Brown, it was designer of 350 album covers.

SONGS OF BRAZILIAN BIRDS

The luxuriant diversity of Brazilian nature also expresses itself in the huge variety of bird songs. Unfortunately, many species of Brazilian birds are threatened. Without urgent action for preservation, the voices of the Hyacinthine Macaw (4), Great Xenops (10), and Brasília Tapaculo (31), among others, will never be heard again.

It was not until the summer 2003 that I got to see my first pin ups. It was a book named "1000 pin up girls" and I loved to look at it so much that the boyfriend I had bought it for me. MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY

From King's last speech:"... Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn't matter with me now. Because I've been to the mountaintop. And I don't mind. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land. And I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord."

Ricksha, Art of Bangladesh

This website, which the author is Joanna Kirkpatrick, cultural and social anthropologist, is dedicated to celebrating one of Bangladesh's unique popular arts, the paintings and decorations on the three-wheeled cycle "ricksha". They are popular as opposed to "fine" arts. They appropriate multiple forms which include folklore, classical art elements, and commercial forms. They also reflect the economic globalization process, which is occurring all over the world today, in their fascination with movie stars and narratives, with US disco during the seventies, with foreign travel scenes and fancy red sports cars.

The Web Gallery of Art

The Web Gallery of Art is a virtual museum and searchable database of European painting and sculpture from 12th to mid-19th centuries. It was started in 1996 as a topical site of the Renaissance art, originated in the Italian city-states of the 14th century and spread to other countries in the 15th and 16th centuries. Intending to present Renaissance art as comprehensively as possible, the scope of the collection was later extended to show its Medieval roots as well as its evolution to Baroque and Rococo via Mannerism. More recently the periods of Neoclassicism and Romanticism were also included. The image as above is "Burial of St Lucy" of Caravaggio (detail) 1608, the picture was made before the recent restoration, but is always nice and amazing! The painting is in Bellomo Museum, Syracuse, Sicily, Italy (my hometown ;))
